A cinematographer with a designer`s eye

The cinematic journey of Eirik Vatne began on the streets of Trondheim, capturing the raw energy of the local skate and snowboard scene. This early passion for visual storytelling quickly evolved into recognition, leading him to win back-to-back Amandus Awards for Best Documentary in 2015 and 2016.

At Noroff School of Technology and Media he got more recognition for his work by getting awarded the "Diamond award" for "best student production" two years in a row where he specialized in cinematography. After the studies Eirik spent years working as a lighting assistant on major commercial sets and feature films. He views light as a cinematographer's most powerful tool; by studying the masters of the craft firsthand, he developed a deep-rooted understanding of how to shape and control it to evoke specific emotions.

The Intersection of Design & Cinematography

Currently expanding his visual vocabulary through Product Design at OsloMet, Eirik brings a unique multidisciplinary perspective to every project. His background in design offers a distinct advantage in understanding form and materials, knowing exactly how to highlight the weight of a piece of jewelry or the delicate texture of a fabric.

Specializing in clean, elegant visuals for the fashion and product sectors, Eirik aims to make the audience feel the subject through the screen. By meticulously balancing composition, intentional camera movement, and tactile lighting, he strives to bring out the soul of every object he films, from narrative shorts to high-end commercial content.
